Founded in 1946, PCS has evolved and grown much like the thousands of students that passed through its halls. Graduates of PCS bless every industry including medicine, teaching, law, entertainment, entrepreneurship, ministry, and many others. With nearly 80 years of legacy, PCS has a rich multi-generational community with alumni enrolling their children and grandchildren.
As an independent Christian school, there are over 100 different churches represented by our student body. PCS is not financially supported by any particular denomination or congregation, making our program 100% tuition-based. Governance comes from a board of directors, composed of parents and community leaders, that are vested in the outcome of decisions and the stewardship of resources.

Standardized testing for grades 3rd through 8th is a snapshot in time of a student's overall progress; every single one of our students partake in these assessments. It surveys our student's progress matched to the progress of students across the nation. The Iowa Assessments from Riverside Insights™ are evidence-based, psychometrically sound assessments that measure student achievement and growth against next generation learning standards for grades K–12. We have the distinct privilege of guiding the same students from lower elementary, throughout our junior high program; this allows us to collect and follow data from individual students, starting from 3rd grade, on. This unique opportunity allows us to properly gauge growth, and we are so proud to see the consistent increase and achievement of each of our students.
While we are pleased with our scores, it is important to note that at PCS, we do not “teach to the test," rather, our curriculum is designed to prepare our students to be life-long learners. This approach allows for the exploration of art, music, theater, sports, and computer science, which results in students actually enjoying school and learning. Moreover, the assessments administered in classrooms prior to IOWA, formative and summative, that our faculty painstakingly create and apply consistently, vary in its form and are adapted to the class's needs.
Pasadena Christian School is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Both organizations granted PCS clear six-year accreditation status beginning in 2020.
Accreditation with ACSI engages schools in a vigorous, holistic process of organizational appraisal and improvement that engages every school constituent. Every step in our accreditation process is designed to be useful for driving improvement at PCS, so we can continue to grow and improve.
