The Curriculum

The curriculum for young children is often described simply as "The curriculum is the child." As a result, our curriculum features choices in activities that cover numerous subject matter, open-ended tasks, and skill development all in the context of play with teachers who make it a goal to extend the child's discovery. We believe intellectual learning takes place when we provide a wide variety of materials, activities and exploration in a well-organized and well thought-out environment. We support a "developmentally appropriate" curriculum that addresses activities for each age and stage of development. This flexibility is a description of the "emergent" opportunity that allows teachers to take advantage of "teachable moments." In this way, learning occurs in the context of meaning for the child.

"Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
Proverbs 22:6

Program Hours:

As a parent, there is nothing more comforting than knowing your children are in a nurturing, safe environment all hours of the day. At Pasadena Christian Preschool, we understand the pressures placed on parents today. To help offset these demands, our program is flexible to meet each family's needs. Families with a full day program can drop off as early as 7:00 a.m. and pick up as late as 6:00 p.m.  Children enrolled in the half-day morning programs can be dropped off as early as 7:00 a.m. with pick up at 12:30 p.m.

Parental Involvement/Volunteer Hours:

We believe the most successful schools are those with the highest level of parental involvement. As a result, Pasadena Christian Preschool, in cooperation with our Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF), provides and promotes numerous opportunities and activities for parents to get involved. Parents and families are encouraged to share their gifts and talents with the class. Each preschool family is required to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per school year.

"We have different gifts according to the grace given us."
Romans 12:6
