STUDENT DROP-OFF & PICK UP

All families are asked to follow the procedures below when dropping off students or picking them up.

  • All students must be dropped off at school through the Garfield campus entrance, not the Los Robles Ave entrance.
  • Students are not allowed to come through the office to enter or exit the campus unless special circumstances exist and/or a written request has been given to administration and administrative permission to do so has been granted.
  • If parents have business with the office, they must first drop their students off (or pick them up) through the Garfield carline and then come to the office to take care of needed business.
  • Parents are requested to respect the neighbors surrounding Pasadena Christian School by never blocking or parking in their driveways.  Be especially aware as you are in carline moving north on Garfield.  If there is a driveway, leave it open for access to those who live there.

CAMPUS PARKING

Following are the guidelines for parking on or near the Pasadena Christian School campus:

  • No PCS parent parking in the Garfield Parking lot unless pre-scheduled by the Administration for specific purposes.  All spots in the Garfield lot are required for staff parking due to on-street parking restrictions for staff.
  • No parking on Howard St. (north or south sides) 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. or for school evening and/or weekend events.  This is applicable between Los Robles and Garfield Avenues.
  • No parking on Howard and Ladera Streets east of Los Robles Ave. 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. or for school evening and/or weekend events
  • No parking on Los Robles and Garfield 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Mondays

CARPOOLING

Pasadena Christian has established a program to support families and staff members who want to participate in a carpooling program.  The following are guidelines for the program:

  • All participating families and staff members must register their participation.  A registration form is found on RenWeb or requesting one from the school office.
  • Families and staff members can earn MVP hours for participating in a carpool. Staff members can also receive additional free dress days (1 per month of consistent carpool use) as well as preferred parking in the Garfield Parking Lot.
  • To qualify for MVP hours:
    • All families in the carpool must be registered in the PCS Alternate Transportation Program.
    • The carpool must involve 2 families or 2 staff members minimum
  • When the above criteria are met, all families or staff members participating in the carpool receive 2 MVP hours per year.  Staff members receive the additional incentive of one free dress day for each month of participation.

Those students or staff who regularly walk to school qualify their families for MVP hours if the following criteria are met:

  • The student/staff member is registered as a participant in the PCS Alternate Transportation Program.
  • The student has written notification on file with the school giving parental permission to walk.
  • All PCS student members of the family participate in one of the ATP specific programs.

When the above criteria are met, all families or staff members participating in the ATP receive 2 MVP hours per year.  Staff members receive the additional incentive of one free dress day for each month of participation.

BICYCLING

Those students or staff who regularly bike to school qualify their families for MVP hours if the following criteria are met:

  • The student/staff member is registered as a participant in the PCS Alternate Transportation Program.

GUARANTEED RIDE HOME

Realizing that an emergency may arise during the school day that requires a student
or staff member to leave campus, PCS has a program that will provide an individual
with a ride.

PCS guarantees its employees who participate in an Alternate Transportation Program
a ride on an emergency basis by:

  • Enrollment in and implementation of the Guaranteed Ride Home Program sponsored by Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and other nearby county transportation programs.
  • A Program Handbook is available for review in the school office.
  • Employees must use a GRH Authorization Form provided by Pasadena Christian School to be provided with a ride.
  • PCS will also do its best to accommodate an emergency need by providing emergency transportation to its employees who carpool.
