Summer Schedule Change Form
|
The Big Yellow House has been busy preparing for another summer of special activities, field trips, and games for PCS students. Registered weekly care is required for participation in our field trips. Drop In Daily Care is available to participate in our onsite activities. Hourly Care is not available in the summer. Drop In Students should come with a sack lunch. There is a limited Alegre ala carte cash lunch available on most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Our theme this year is from Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine...that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Miss Laura Jacobs and Mr. Robin Chu will be our Summer Coordinators, leading us in discovering ways to use what God has given us and having a lot of fun in the process.

The Big Yellow House Summer 2008 Program Information
June 23 – August 15
The Big Yellow House – the extended day care facility of PCS – operates an eight-week summer program designed for the needs of school age children. All PCS students in 1st–8th grade registered for the 2008–2009 school year are eligible to attend. (A transitional kindergarten summer program is offered through the Pasadena Christian Pre-school for entering kindergarteners.) There are a variety of activities offered -- arts and crafts, games, cooking, music and drama, chapel, and swimming. There is a weekly Large Group field trip for all ages on Thursdays and a special trip for Explorers and Curiosity Kids on Tuesdays. Every effort will be made to have a field trip space for all students registered and scheduled by May 9th. On site activities are always available for those unable to go off site.
Adventurer’s Club 1st-3rd grades
This club will focus on providing age appropriate activities for our primary grades with walking trips to the Library on most Tuesdays.
Explorer’s Club 4th-5th grades
Our 4th and 5th grade students have their special room and will have an additional weekly Tuesday field trip.
Curiosity Kids Program 6th-Jr High
Students entering the 6th through 8th grades also have opportunities to develop relationships, have special activities and an additional weekly Tuesday field trip.
The Game Room All Ages
The Game Room offers ping pong, foosball and a variety of board and card games. This is a favorite spot for students to relax, socialize with friends or perhaps participate in a tournament.
BYH Central All Ages
BYH Central is the gathering place for large group Chapel as well as providing opportunities for creative expression in art, drama and music.
Snacks
We will provide a light morning and afternoon snack everyday at approximately 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Please send additional snacks if your child has a food allergy or if you feel that he/she may need more than what’s provided. Snacks will also be available for purchase from the BYH Snack Shop on most days.
Lunch
Lunch time will usually be at 11:30 a.m. We regret that we are unable to provide refrigeration or heat up food for students. Unless noted otherwise, children are always expected to have a sack lunch. When lunch is provided, we regret that we are unable to provide an alternative choice (for those with allergies or preferences). A limited cash only ala carte lunch will be available on most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays by Alegre Foods (sign up in the morning).
Emergency Forms
Copies of your 2007-2008 Emergency Form are on file at the Big Yellow House. If there have been any changes, please make sure to update your form with BYH. New students may need to complete this form before the start of summer.
Summer T-shirt
Registration includes one BYH T-shirt. The shirt is mandatory on Tuesday & Thursday off site field trips or activities. Please indicate the size your child will need on the registration form. Additional shirts may be ordered in advance at a reduced price.
Swimming at Sierra Madre Pool
This summer we will be swimming once a week, on most Wednesday afternoons, at the Sierra Madre pool. Parents must sign in their child for swimming in the morning and provide appropriate car seat when required by law. Licensed lifeguards supervise the City’s pool during this public swim time. BYH staff will accompany students on the school vans and/or private vehicles and supervise at the pool. Swimming fees are included with registration. (In the event your child is waitlisted for the pool, they will be given priority for the following week.)
Big Yellow House 2008 Summer Program Fees
The registration fee is non-refundable and due with this application form. Hourly care is not available in the summer. Please refer to the BYH Summer 2008 Payment Information sheet. Students must be accepted into the school and all financial obligations at PCS must be current before being accepted into the Summer Program.
Note: On any week, for your child to attend a field trip, your child must be registered and paid for the full week. Participation in swimming requires Full Day Registration.
